HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- It's an issue that Donald Trump seized upon while visiting Indianapolis and during Monday night's presidential debate he again brought up the fact that Carrier is moving 1,400 jobs from its plant in Indianapolis to Monterrey, Mexico.

"We have to stop our jobs from being stolen from us. We have to stop our companies from leaving the United States and with it firing all their people. All you have to do is look at Carrier air condition in Indianapolis. They let go 1,400 people. They're going to Mexico. So many hundreds and hundreds of companies are doing this. We cannot let it happen," said Trump.

During a campaign stop at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in April, Trump called for a 35 percent tax on Carrier products if the company goes through with the move.  He alsolinked his campaign to the plight of Carrier's workers at a rally in Westfield in July.
