INDIANAPOLIS -- An IUPUI student was recently diagnosed with tuberculosis, according to the Marion County Health Department.

A statement from IU says the student was hospitalized and is no longer attending classes.

The health department's TB Control Program is helping IUPUI identify students, faculty and staff who were closest to the infected person. About 390 people were singled out for TB testing.

University official says if students were not notified, there was no medical reason to believe they were at risk for potential exposure.

There are no other cases of TB at IUPUI.

Tuberculosis is an airborne disease. It's detected with a skin test.

Symptoms of TB include: feeling sick or weak, weight loss, fever and night sweats.
