IMPD arrest, charge man in connection with two shootings on Indy's southwest side

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis police arrested a man in connection to a double shooting occurring on the city's southwest side Saturday evening.

Just before 6:15 p.m.,police responded to a call in the 2800 block of S. Rybolt Ave. on reports of a person shot.

Police found two males suffering from gunshot wounds behind a residence. Both were transported to Eskenazi Hospital. One victim was in critical condition and the other person was stable.

Officers arrested 38-year-old Corey Tibbs as the shooting suspect and he faces preliminary charges of Attempted Murder, Criminal Recklessness with a Weapon, and Possession of a Handgun without a License.

Detectives said two victims were having a cookout in the backyard of a home when the suspect pulled up, got out of his vehicle and confronted one of the men about their vehicle blocking the alley where the suspect was attempting to drive.

After a brief conversation, the suspect left and allegedly returned with a gun and shot the victims. The suspect then fled the scene but was apprehended a short time later by police.
