Police: Man faces attempted murder charges after gunfire injures 2 in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS - After someone shot two people early Wednesday morning, police said they were able to arrest a suspect based on one of the victim's description of the shooter.

Police said they arrested Richard Burns, Jr., shortly after the shooting and preliminarily charged him with two counts of attempted murder.

Indianapolis police (IMPD) said the two people were found with gunshot wounds just after 2:15 a.m. at a home in the 5000 block of Brookville Road, near the intersection of Brookville and Emerson Avenue.

IMPD identified the two victims as Timmy Moorman and Sherman Wagers, both of Indianapolis.

Police said Moorman was found in the basement of the home with a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

IMPD found Wagers in a detached garage of the house. Investigators said Wagers was alert and conscious when officers found him, and was able to describe the shooter.

Police said they detained a potential suspect at a different location. The person reportedly matched the description the victim gave of the shooter.
