Two teens arrested in connection with Broad Ripple robbery spree

INDIANAPOLIS - An 18-year-old Indianapolis man was arrested Saturday in connection with a string of robberies in the Broad Ripple area.

Three separate robberies were reported between Friday night and Saturday morning; all involving a similarly described silver SUV.

When a fourth robbery was reported on the 6400 block of Cornell Avenue, witnesses' descriptions of the vehicle led police to an SUV with two 17-year-olds and an 18-year-old inside.

A search of the vehicle turned up four pellet guns and several ski masks – items police said they believe were used in the robberies. Two of the pellet guns also had a rifle-like appearance matching the weapons described by victims.

Gabriel Leschat, 18, of Indianapolis, and a 17-year-old juvenile were arrested and charged with robbery, a class "B" felony. The second juvenile was not charged.

Leschat was taken to the Marion Count y Arrestee Processing Center, where he was being held on a $40,000 bond.
