INDIANAPOLIS -- A Monday night vote could change the way a lot of people get around Indianapolis.
The City-County Council will decide whether to move ahead on the transit tax.
If it passes, it means the city will continue with a rapid transit bus line.
The line would run down College Avenue from Broad Ripple, through the Downtown Transit Center, down to the University of Indianapolis on Indy's south side.
The Red Line construction could start as early as this summer.

The bus line would run more often, have fewer stops and be given their own center lane. It would be a huge convenience for some, but also at a huge cost. The local income tax rate will rise for everyone living in Marion County.
If this plan goes ahead, starting in October, a person making $40,000 will pay about $100 more per year in taxes.
In November, Indianapolis voters approved the tax increase with 59 percent of the vote.
