INDIANAPOLIS -- U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch has selected Indianapolis as one of six cities she'll be stopping at through in the coming months to recognize the police department.

Lynch says she sees the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department as a role model for law enforcement agencies across the country.

The departments chosen are seen as successful in implementing "pillars" of policing identified by the White House.

The pillars include building community trust, crime reduction and officer training.

Her journey begins Thursday -- when she pays a visit to Miami-Dade County in Florida.

Other cities on the list include Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland and Fayetteville, North Carolina.

The date for when Lynch will visit Indianapolis isn't finalized -- but when she does, she'll speak with several city leaders, including new police chief Troy Riggs.
