Vincennes man arrested for operating while intoxicated with grandson in vehicle

PRINCETON, Ind. - A Vincennes man was arrested Friday night after a traffic stop revealed he was driving while intoxicated with his 9-year-old grandson in the vehicle, police said.

According to a release, state police dispatchers received a call at approximately 10 p.m. Friday regarding a possible impaired driver traveling southbound on U.S.  41. Moments later, a state trooper spotted a vehicle matching the description traveling 62 miles-per-hour in a 50 miles-per-hour zone.

Trooper Aaron Kaucher said that upon approaching the vehicle, an immediate odor of alcohol was present. Kaucher said he spotted an open 12-pack of back in the bed of the pickup truck.

The driver was identified as Anthony Preske, 53. Also in the truck were his 25-year-old son and 9-year-old grandson.

Preske was arrested and taken to Gibson County Jail on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a passenger under 18 years of age, a Class D felony, and OWI with a prior DWI conviction, also a Class D felony.
