FISHERS, Ind. - Volunteers spent the day Sunday combing the area where a missing Fishers teen was last seen.
The Silver Alert for Peyton Riekhof was later canceled Sunday evening. Officers with the Fishers Police Department found her SUV in Geist Reservoir.
Family and friends had not heard from Peyton Riekhof, 18, for days.
She was last seen early Thursday morning and officers with the Fishers Police Department issued a Silver Alert for her on Friday.
Riekhof was last seen at a convenience store in Geist at 2 a.m. Thursday morning.
She paid for gasoline and then vanished.
Volunteers searched the area not far from where Riekhof was last seen.
Police said her boyfriend called authorities around 3 a.m. Thursday morning and said he was concerned about her safety and that Riekhof seemed agitated when she left his home.
She had recently graduated high school and was enrolled as a freshman at Kansas University.
Friends and family said was excited about college and she seemed happy.
“We just want to get the word out that Peyton's missing. Get the car, and if she's driven far away and is reluctant to come back for whatever reason, we're just trying to bring Peyton back,” family friend David Delafield said.
Nearly 400 people took part in a candlelight vigil for Riekhof on Saturday night.
Volunteers, working in groups, hoped to find some evidence that could help investigators.
“We're just looking for any personal object that Peyton may have. A cell phone would be a big find because we haven't had any contact with her since early Thursday morning," volunteer Dave Sutton said.
Investigators said since her disappearance, Riekhof’s cell phone had turned off and her debit card had not been used.
