INDIANAPOLIS - The dropping thermostat has been an issue all winter with these frigid temperatures -- and it’s even worse this week as many Hoosiers face a propane shortage, leaving them in the cold.
There are several spots across the city in case you lose heat in your home. Pets are usually welcome, too.
Four warming centers have been set up in Indianapolis. They are great places to go if your home loses heat and you have yet to arrange where you’re going to spend the night.
They’re available so you can stay there while you contact family or overnight shelters.
The four locations are all at Indianapolis parks and are all opening Tuesday between 8 and 10 a.m. -- and they will remain open until 8 or 9 p.m.
Area warming centers are located at the following spots:
• Broad Ripple Park
• Krannert Park
• Garfield Park
• Christian Park
(Find the location of each park on our map attached to this story.)
You don’t have to be homeless -- just cold -- to use these centers.
