INDIANAPOLIS - A water main break shut down Lafayette Road near 34th Street on the city's northwest side.
The main broke just before 4 a.m. amid freezing temperatures which created icy, dangerous conditions for crews working to get the line repaired.
Traffic was detoured from 34th Street to 35th Street. Drivers were advised to use caution near the area because of the slick roads.
The southbound lanes of Lafayette Road remained open to traffic.
