NEW ALBANY, Ind - The bodies of a woman and two children were found Wednesday in a southern Indiana creek, police said.

New Albany Police Department Maj. Keith Whitlow said someone walking through a park about 5:15 p.m. spotted the bodies in Falling Run Creek. The creek is 12 to 18 inches deep.

Whitlow told the News and Tribune and WLKY-TV that investigators are treating the deaths as homicides.

Whitlow said one of the children appears to have been a toddler and the other was an adolescent.

Their names or a cause of death haven't been released. Whitlow said more information will be released following autopsies.

"It's just so said whenever anything like that happens with children and a woman," said Linda Hornung, who lives near the park, in an interview with WHAS-TV.

Whitlow told the Courier-Journal of Louisville, Ky., that there are no obvious signs of foul play.

"It's been nine years since we came to this park on a homicide," Whitlow told WHAS. "We don't have many cases like this."

New Albany is across the Ohio River from Louisville.
