MILAN, Ind. - A 22-year-old woman and two teenagers from Ohio have been arrested in the slaying of a 68-year-old Indiana woman, police said.
Nancy Hershman, 68, was found shot to death in her Milan home Dec. 30 after an apparent home-invasion robbery, police said.
The investigation led state police to Colerain Township in Cincinnati, where Allison Moore, 22, and two 16-year-old boys were arrested Saturday.
Moore faces a preliminary charge of murder, while the boys are being held on juvenile charges in connection with the murder, police said.
Investigators said the slaying was a random act.
"The suspects were driving around and came to Indiana and decided to break into a home," according to a state police news release. "Once inside, they were apparently confronted by Mrs. Hershman, and during the confrontation, Mrs. Hershman was shot and killed."
More arrests are possible, police said.
Formal charges are expected to be filed early next week in Ripley County.
