HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. - Emergency responders were called to a scene where an elderly woman had drowned in the pool behind her home.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Department said Marylyn Webb, 76, was pulled from the pool at a home at 336 Mill Farm Road near State Road 38, northwest of Noblesville.
Noblesville Fire Department officials confirmed that Webb drowned and said the sheriff's department was investigating the events that led up to the drowning.
"We are in the early stages of the investigation. At 4:30 p.m. this afternoon we received a call from the victim's grandson who had come by the residence to help her with the pool this afternoon. When he didn't receive contact with her at the front door, he went around to the back to check on things and found her in the pool," said Sheriff Mark Bowen
Officials said when they arrived, they found Webb fully clothed and they believed that she likely fell into her private swimming pool in the back yard.
Paramedics assessed Webb and pronounced her dead at the scene.
It is yet to be determined if she slipped and fell or possibly had a medical emergency, Bowen said.
The Hamilton County Coroner's office completed the autopsy and no major medical problems or trauma was seen. The coroner has ruled her death as an accidental drowning.
