INDIANAPOLIS - An Indianapolis woman is camping out on top of the Athenaeum in hopes of raising money for the historic building's repairs.

Athenaeum Foundation President Cassie Stockamp said she's wearing lots of layers and has a sleeping bag to help her brave the cold autumn nights.

Despite the temperature, Stockamp said camping out on the roof has its perks.

"It's really beautiful up here at night. The architectural elements and the views of the city give a unique opportunity," she said.

Stockamp said she wants to make sure the Athenaeum remains a part of Indy's historic cityscape.

"It still has financial needs. We have to raise money every year just to keep the doors open," she said.

The Athenaeum needs about $6 million in repairs and Stockamp said she's willing to sacrifice the comfort of her home in order to raise money.

Thursday through Saturday, Stockcamp will host a series of events until she reaches her goal.
