MARION, Ind. - A woman was fatally shot in front of a hotel in downtown Marion on Friday, police said.
Police apprehended Zachary Allen Thien, 27, in Westchester, Ohio early Saturday morning in connection with the woman's death.
Thien is facing murder charges, a media release said.
Officers were called to Hotel Marion on State Road 18 just before 7 a.m.
They found a woman lying in the westbound lanes in front of the hotel, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
The woman was identified as Megan Elaine Chipman, 23, of Montpelier, Ind.
The Grant County Coroner told RTV6 Chipman was shot twice in the head and once in the chest.
Chipman was taken to Marion General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
"We believe she may have been in a vehicle with the person responsible," said Cliff Sessoms, deputy chief of Marion Police. "We believe the shooting happened in the roadway."
