INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman was found shot to death in an alley on Indianapolis' west side Friday morning as part of a murder-suicide.

The discovery was made just after 9:30 a.m. behind an address in the 900 block of N. Addison Street near New York Street.

Plainfield police were initially called to the Speedway gas station on Vestal Road around 9 a.m. for reports of a verbal fight between a man and a woman. Upon arrival, police found the woman's car at the station, but the man's was gone, and witnesses told them the woman got into the man's car.

Plainfield police notified IMPD, who connected the investigation to a run they had made for reports of a body found.

The woman is 27-year-old Brittney Bailey. Indianapolis police say the suspect in the shooting is 34-year-old Giovani Bailey. Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute.

After a short search for the suspect Friday morning, Giovani was found dead in the 400 block of North Warman with self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Earlier Friday, a victim who was shot Thursday night while driving with his grandson succumbed to his injuries, marking this the second shooting-related death of the day.
