INDIANAPOLIS - An Indianapolis woman who pleaded guilty to an OWI resulting in death was sentenced to several years behind bars and a couple more on probation for the Class-B felony this week.
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office said Whitney Gettys, 23, crashed her SUV into a taxi in the early morning hours of Jan. 27 near Delaware and Washington streets. The taxi driver died in that wreck.
Investigators said Gettys was drunk when she crashed her car.
Gettys was sentenced Tuesday to six years in the Indiana Department of Corrections, followed by two years’ probation.
The prosecutor’s office said she did not receive credit for her pre-trial home detention time.
