INDIANAPOLIS - A woman was injured in a crash and trapped inside of the car early Wednesday after the car she was riding in was side-swiped by a van on Indianapolis’ northeast side.


Indianapolis Fire Department crews said the crash happened just before 1 a.m. near the intersection of 71st Street and Binford Boulevard.


The woman was trapped inside the car for nearly 40 minutes before she was rescued, officials said.


She was rushed to Methodist Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is said to be in stable condition.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
