INDIANAPOLIS - A woman lost two of her pets in an early morning house fire on the city's northwest side, Pike Township Fire Department officials said.
The fire was reported about 1:30 a.m. in the 3500 block of Kenilworth Drive when neighbors saw flames shooting from the roof of the house. One neighbor helped a woman inside the home escape as the flames quickly spread.
Battalion Chief Chris Tragesser said two cats inside the home did not survive and that the fire caused at least $50,000 in damages.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
