ZIONSVILLE, Ind. -- A petition is circulating to put a stop to a proposed new town hall for Zionsville.
The City of Zionsville is considering building a $10.2 million, 41,000 square foot town hall.
Zionsville Town Council member Jeff Papa said the new building is needed because there is not enough room in the current building.
It also needs major repairs, which would cost more than $3 million. Plus, the city can sell the property once they no longer need it and make some money back.
However, not everyone is on board.
A petition to prevent the new building currently has more than 200 signatures. Those that have signed it say the new building is unnecessary, and that money could be spent elsewhere, including repairs to an intersection in the area of Oak Street and Kissel Road that many people say is dangerous.

"They need to do something out there, either put a light, keeping the citizens in mind," Brett Holloway said.
Zionsville Mayor Tim Haak told the council Monday that a plan to finance the project will likely be tabled until March, so they can get more public input.
