Indianapolis police Lt. Jeff Duhamell said Andrew Parrish, 35, went to a home in the 500 block of South Warman Avenue to retrieve some of his belongings from an acquaintance.

Witnesses told police that Parrish began fighting with Larry Ault, 29, who pulled a handgun and shot Parrish in the head.

Parrish was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital in extremely critical condition, Duhamell said.

Charges are pending against Ault.
