Prosecutors Say Eric 'Boo' Jenkins Provided Gun To Thomas Hardy

An Indianapolis man faces federal firearm charges after police said he provided the gun used to kill Indianapolis police Officer David Moore.Eric "Boo" Jenkins, 53, was charged Thursday with three counts of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and one count of having conspired to provide firearms to a convicted felon.Moore, 29, was shot and killed by Thomas Hardy, 61, in the line of duty in January 2011.Hardy, a convicted felon, pleaded guilty to charges of murder, robbery with a deadly weapon and possession of a handgun by a serious violent felon, and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.Prosecutors said Jenkins sold Hardy, who he knew to be a convicted felon, the Bersa .380 caliber semiautomatic handgun days before it was used to kill Moore, RTV6's Jack Rinehart reported.Jenkins is also accused of providing Kim Johnson, also a convicted felon, with a different firearm on Jan. 23, 2011.

If convicted, Jenkins faces a maximum of 10 years in prison on each count of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. He faces up to five years if convicted of having provided that firearm to convicted felon. He is currently serving time in the Indiana State Penitentiary for cocaine possession."Our commitment is real, and our resolve is unwavering. The indictment sends a powerful message, that even if you didn't pull the trigger, you may very well be held accountable, said U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett. "This office simply will not tolerate violence against our law enforcement officers, just as we will not allow the lawless behavior that enables such tragedies to go unpunished."
