Man Found Shot Multiple Times

Witness Flags Down Officer

A man was critically wounded in a shooting on Indianapolis' near-east side Tuesday evening.

Indianapolis police Sgt. Paul Thompson said an officer was flagged down at about 6:30 p.m. and was told of the shooting.

A male witness told police his friend had been shot several times in the 600 block of North Oxford Street.

The witness said the man got out of a car and went into a house, where the shooting happened.

"He went inside, returned to the vehicle, stumbled against the vehicle, and that's when they realized there was a problem," Thompson said.

Investigators said the man was shot up to six times. He was taken to Methodist Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Officers asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
