GOSHEN, Ind. -- A mission worker who grew up in Indiana has reportedly been kidnapped in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Michael Sharp worked with the United Nations for about two years and was in the Congo working a peacekeeping mission.

According to The Wichita Eagle, Sharp was abducted along with another U.N. worker, three Congolese drivers and a translator while traveling through the Kasai Central province.

Sharp grew up in Goshen and went to Bethany Christian High School.

The UN said the circumstances surrounding his disappearance are “unclear” and they are working to free all of those who were taken.
