An Indianapolis couple faces charges of neglect in the death of the woman's 2-year-old daughter, police said.
Family members told police that Tyneise Quiller was playing on a stool or a table at her home in the 200 block of Parkview Avenue on Dec. 7 when she fell and hit her head.
The toddler, who suffered multiple blunt force injuries, died the next day at Methodist Hospital. Police later ruled her death a homicide.
The girl's mother, Tiara Peoples, 21, and Peoples' boyfriend, Terrence Taylor, 24, were arrested Tuesday on preliminary charges of felony neglect of a dependent causing death.
"The investigation, along with crucial forensic evidence, lead to charges being filed against the mother and her boyfriend," said Indianapolis police Sgt. Paul Thompson.
Peoples and Taylor were both being held at the Marion County Jail on Tuesday.
Thompson said each blamed the other for causing the girl's injuries.
