Several pileups and slideoffs were reported along interstates across Indianapolis after an unexpected snowfall Monday afternoon.State police said the agency and Indianapolis police worked more than 80 crashes. No serious injuries were reported.

At least 12 tractor-trailers and other vehicles were involved in a pileup at Interstate 465 and Mann Road, which closed the eastbound lanes for about an hour.There were also multi-vehicle crashes along I-465 at the Interstate 65 interchange on the southeast side, the Michigan Road exit on the northwest side and at Interstate 70 and Harding Street."I feel extremely lucky. As I look at the two semis on left, it could have been an extremely different story," said driver Steve Moody.The National Weather Service said nearly half an inch fell in Indianapolis by 1 p.m. and snow was expected to taper off overnight.The Indianapolis Department of Public Works brought in 74 drivers to combat the snow on city streets.Further north, about 6 inches of snow fell near South Bend, but no major roads were reported closed.
