Most people know chocolate is a bad for dogs, but what else do we eat that can wreak havoc on rover? Kristina Guerrero has four foods that are surprisingly dangerous for your dog to eat.

1.  Xylitol

This is found in a lot of gum and candy. Vomiting and seizures is a sign your dog may have gotten ahold of your Spearmint. Total liver failure can happen in a matter of days so keep that chewing gum out of reach.

2.  Alcohol

Whether it's beer, wine or liquor, your dog can experience vomiting, coordination problems, comas and even death. Make sure your pup stays on the wagon.

3.  Garlic & Onions

A small amount every once in a while won't hurt, but a little bit of the chemical thiosulfate in raw, cooked, or powdered onions and garlic over the course of time can cause breathing problems and damage to red blood cells. Blood transfusions are in your dog's future if you feed them too much onions and garlic.

4.  Caffeine

Coffee, tea or energy drinks can cause hyperventilation, muscle twitches and sometimes death. Get your pooch that high from the dog park and not your cup of coffee.

If despite your best efforts your four-legged best friend does get ahold of something they shouldn't, call the Animal Poison Control Center.
