HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. -- Gov. Mike Pence is condemning the firebombing of a local Republican office in North Carolina as "an act of political terrorism" and "an attack on the American political system."

Pence on Tuesday toured the charred interior of the Orange County GOP office on his way to two rallies elsewhere in the state.

He praised Republican volunteers Hillsborough, North Carolina, for their "courage and resilience."

Pence noted political figures across the spectrum have condemned the act committed over the weekend. But he complained that national media have paid little attention. He speculated that a similar attack on a Democratic office would get much wider coverage.

No one was hurt, and police are still investigating.

Pence went on to talk about what he calls the "overwhelming bias of national media in this election."

He said he's been astonished by the level of negative coverage of Donald Trump and the "scant coverage of an avalanche of scandals and corruption coming out of the campaign of Hillary Clinton."

Pence also addressed the issue of voter fraud, saying there have been proven instances in Indiana and other states, "That's why Donald Trump and I are encouraging all of our supporters around the country and all Americans to take the opportunity to be involved in a respectful way in providing accountability at our polling places."

A study from the Heritage Foundation found there were 34 convictions from 2003 to 2013 in Indiana on charges that included ineligible voting, absentee ballot fraud and false registrations.
