Tourism Officials Aim For Second Super Bowl

As Indianapolis prepares to welcome thousands of visitors for the Super Bowl, officials said they hope the city will earn rave reviews for tourism and hospitality to host another championship game.Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne said he was more than proud that the National Football League chose Indy to host the championship game.

Its been outstanding. The weather is holding up and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. I havent heard one bad complaint, Wayne said.City and state leaders said they plan to use the positive reviews from this Super Bowl to convince the NFL to add Indianapolis into its host city rotation.NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell didnt rule out the possibility, RTV6's Chris Proffitt reported.Lets get through the first one, first. I think the hospitality and the way they have done this will reflect very well on Indianapolis going forward, Goodell said.Officials said the NFL Experience at the Indiana Convention Center drew record crowds and thousands of visitors pack the Super Bowl Village every day.Former Colts coach Tony Dungy said that out of town fans will enjoy themselves in the Circle City.Im really happy for the city to put its best foot forward. I think weve put on a good game and I think when the fans start to come in, theyre going to be pleasantly surprised, Dungy said.The potential payoff for Indianapolis remains to be seen because officials had originally doubted Indys ability to pull off the game in a cold-weather, Midwestern city.NFL officials said if Indianapolis exceeds their expectations, the city could possibly host another Super Bowl in the future.I think the setup here is fantastic. Everything is concentrated in the downtown area and the facilities are all very close by. All these things are a big plus for our fans, Goodell said.
