Officer Injured In Crash At Busy Intersection

Police: Uninsured, Unlicensed Woman Hit Officer's Car

A woman was cited after striking an Indianapolis police officer's car at a busy intersection on the city's south side, police said.

The crash happened at about 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Emerson Avenue and Southport Road.

Indianapolis police said Christopher Wishart, a reserve officer, was working traffic duty outside the shopping center when a car driven by Stacey Renie, 40, of Indianapolis drifted off the road and hit the car.

Wishart suffered unspecified injuries, but they are not life-threatening. Renie was not injured.

Police said Renie was cited for driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance.
