A pastor of a Fort Wayne church was killed when a train struck his car and pushed it into a steel railroad bridge.

The leader of Trinity United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne said Ramon Aleman, 55, was pastor of the church's Spanish-speaking congregation for five years.

The Allen County Coroner said Aleman died from blunt-force trauma, but that the circumstances of Friday's crash in New Haven remained under investigation.

The reverend Matthew Leffler said that Aleman was “compassionate and very interested in the lives of church members.”

Aleman's son said he was born in Mexico, and came to the United States in 1997.

He had been a minister for 38 years.
