Police: 15-Year-Old Critical After Baseball Bat Beating

Two teens have been arrested on attempted murder charges after a 15-year-old boy was left in critical condition after being beaten with a baseball bat, police said.

Anderson police were called to the 600 block of East 27th Street on Wednesday afternoon.

They found a 15-year-old boy severely beaten, suffering from extensive head injuries.

Despite his injuries, police said the boy told them he was approached by two men traveling in a brown van who knocked him down and hit him several times with a metal bat.

Based on tips, police said they found Donovan Ball, 18, of Anderson, and a 17-year-old boy from Chicago, at a home in the 1000 block of Indiana Avenue in Anderson later that night.

Ball and the 17-year-old were taken into custody after resisting arrest.

Investigators said they were able to secure evidence from the home believed to connected to the beating.

The victim was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis with multiple skull fractures and brain trauma. He was listed in critical condition.

Police said the motive behind the incident remains under investigation.
