Indianapolis police arrested a 20-year-old suspect in the beating death of a homeless man whose body was found behind a downtown hotel in April.Jordan Strickland, 20, turned himself in after a warrant was issued for his arrest, 6News' Tanya Spencer reported.Rick McGuire, the victim's brother, said that he's relieved that there's been an arrest made in his brother's killing."It won't bring my brother back, but thank God justice hopefully will be served," McGuire said.Surveillance video showed a group of young men going into the alley where Stephen McGuire, 61, was asleep.McGuire's family said although Stephen McGuire had places to go, he preferred the streets to a house. He had been diagnosed as bipolar and schizophrenic, family members said.Police said a witness came forward and that Strickland beat McGuire to death for no apparent reason.Strickland was charged with murder, robbery and is awaiting his first court appearance. Officials said he was booked without bond in the Marion County Jail.Rick McGuire said he would like to see the five or six other young men in the alley brought to justice, even if they were only watching the alleged deadly beating."This could have been anyone, and this could continue to go on. I mean, we don't know if this is just a group of people who do this on a regular basis. It would be one group that would be off the streets," McGuire said.Police asked anyone with any information about the deadly beating to call Metro Police or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
