The Hancock County coroner has been arrested after she drove to a scene while intoxicated, police said.
Sheriff's deputies were investigating a suicide near Amelia Drive and County Road 700 West just after 9:30 p.m. when they called Coroner Tamara VanGundy.
When VanGundy arrived in her personal vehicle at 10:30 p.m., a sheriff's deputy said she staggered from her car and that her breath smelled of alcohol.
About an hour later, VanGundy failed a field sobriety test, police said.
When she was taken to the Hancock County Sheriffs Department for a Breathalyzer test, she registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.16 percent, police said.
VanGundy was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
