Fishers police are urging parents to be vigilant after a 7-year-old boy was approached by a suspicious man.

The incident happened just before 6 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Parkshore Drive and Brightwater Drive in the Plantana Subdivision near 141st Street and Cumberland Road.

The boy's mother told police that her son was riding his bicycle when a car stopped next to him.

The driver yelled at the boy and attempted to lure him into his vehicle, police said.

"The juvenile became scared and quickly pedaled his bicycle to his home nearby," police said in a news release. "Officers searched the area and were unable to locate the suspect or his vehicle."

The man was described as black, middle-aged with a thin build and clean-shaven. He was wearing an orange T-shirt. The vehicle was a black Toyota Camry.

The report is the latest in a rash of similar attempted abduction incidents in the Fishers area, causing parents and guardians to keep a close eye on their children.

"I dont think my granddaughter is going to be standing on this corner anymore catching the bus until this guy is caught," resident Sheila Ulmer said.

"I think it's very scary and it is just a reminder to parents to watch their kids and to know where they're at and what they're doing," resident Holly Hancock said.
