Police are searching for a 56-year-old man in connection with the shooting of 13-year-old Jarrell Tucker.

Homicide detectives said Glenn Beard, 56, of Indianapolis, is wanted for questioning in connection with the east side shooting that left Tucker in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the head and thigh.

Tucker was taken to Riley Hospital for Children, where he died Monday evening.

IMPD records show Beard was arrested in 2009 for felony possession of an unregistered gun.

Beard got out of prison last year after serving two years, but it wasn't his last contact with police.

IMPD was dispatched to Beard's house about week before the shooting, when Beard was reportedly a victim of burglary.

Neighbors said Beard was no victim, citing a number of clashes he's had with residents.

Police said they're sorting through it all to get to the facts.

"We want to get to the facts of the matter and find out actually what happened and report it accordingly," Interim IMPD Chief Rick Hite told RTV6's Ebone Monet. "The prosecutor has a big role in this, and we trust that justice will be served."

Police asked anyone with information about Beard's whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
