A man who broke into a Greenwood woman's apartment and repeatedly raped her over several hours threatened to rape and kill her children if she called police, according to court documents.

Shawn L. Corbally, 33, of Indianapolis, was arrested Tuesday on multiple felonies, including three counts of rape, three counts of criminal deviate conduct, burglary, confinement, intimidation and residential entry.

According to the probable cause affidavit released Thursday, the woman told police she was asleep with her 1-year-old daughter when she awoke to a man's hand over her mouth and a knife held to her throat.

"This is not a joke. Do what I want or I will kill the kid," the man told the woman, she said.

After cutting her underwear off with the knife, the man raped the woman repeatedly over the next hour, moving her from the bedroom to the bathroom and outside onto the apartment's back patio, according to the affidavit.

During the assault, the man told the woman that he was going to kill her and her children, rape her 1-year-old daughter and cut up her 9-year-old son, who was sleeping nearby, according to the affidavit.

The woman told police the man also sexually assaulted her with the handle of his knife.

After the final attack, the man grabbed the woman, who was naked, by the hair and dragged her back behind the apartments, telling her he wanted her to perform a sex act on him against a tree before he would let her go, according to the affidavit.

But that's when a man walking along an exercise trail spotted the pair, prompting the assailant to let the woman go, telling her he would come back and kill her family if she called 911, according to the affidavit.

The woman told police she ran back inside, got dressed and ran to a neighbor's house to call police.

She was later taken to a hospital, where doctors said the woman suffered several injuries consistent with rape.

The woman said the man stopped her from looking at him, but she was able to give a basic description of his features and of two distinctive tattoos.

After the tattoo information was reported by the media, police received a tip that led them to Corbally, investigators said.

The woman later identified Corbally as her attacker from a photo array, police said. He was also identified by neighbors who reported an attempted residential entry around the same time, police said.

Corbally has a previous rape conviction from 2000 that carried a sentence of 25 years. Corbally was released on probation from Marion County on Feb. 25, police said.

Corbally was being held in the Johnson County jail without bond.
