INDIANAPOLIS -- The president of the steelworkers union said Donald Trump "lied his a-- off" when he boasted about how many jobs he was saving at Carrier's Indianapolis plant.
Chuck Jones, President of United Steelworkers 1999, told the Washington Post that they were optimistic about the deal President-elect struck with the company. That is until he learned that over 500 of his members were still going to be losing their jobs.
He had hoped that Trump would use his meeting on December 1 to explain where those numbers were coming from.
“But he got up there and, for whatever reason, lied his a-- off," Jones said.
Carrier and Trump originally said their deal included keeping nearly 1,100 of the 1,400 jobs originally slated to leave for Mexico, in Indianapolis.

But Trump's 1,100 jobs in total saved includes over 300 corporate jobs that weren't going to be leaving the country in the first place.
The deal will actually keep 730 union, production line jobs as well as 70 salaried positions in Indianapolis in exchange for $7 million in tax incentives over the next 10 years.

Over 500 other employees will still see their jobs shipped to Mexico by the end of 2017.
“Trump and Pence, they pulled a dog and pony show on the numbers,” Jones told the Washington Post. “I almost threw up in my mouth.”
