INDIANAPOLIS - Two of Indiana's top lawmakers say a push to write the state's ban on gay marriage into the state constitution isn't a priority for them right now.

House Speaker Brian Bosma and Senate President Pro Tem David Long made the comments Thursday. 

The pair has pushed measures to improve job training and spend more on schools since the current legislative session began.

Two Republican House lawmakers introduced resolutions Wednesday that would send the gay marriage issue to voters in 2014 if approved by lawmakers.

State lawmakers have two years to decide if they will consider the measure to write the ban into the Indiana constitution. Long has called for a legal review with an eye on whether a Supreme Court ruling would moot the point for state lawmakers.

"We have not had extensive discussion at all in our caucus yet, and I think the Speaker is in the same position," Long said. "We will have a decision before the end of the first half obviously. We'll make a decision whether to hear it this year or not."
