INDIANAPOLIS -- Governor candidates Eric Holcomb and John Gregg tried to court support from female business owners at the National Association of Women Business Owners luncheon on Thursday.

INDIANAPOLIS -- The pair addressed the group, discussing topics such as equality and the economy, giving the women in attendance lots of think about.

"I am looking for growth or a plan from a small business perspective," said Lindsay Farlay, owner of Strategy Nest. "To see are there places for education for women business owners, for minority business owners."

Holcomb said it's important to make sure Indiana maintains reasonable taxes and regulations.

He also said it's important for women business owners to feel confident - so they can invest and succeed in Indiana.

"Making sure that Indiana remains a state that provides certainty and that provides reasonable tax and regulatory climates. That's how we become a magnet, that's why we're attracting so many different kinds of jobs from all over the world," said Holcomb.

Gregg said it's time to review the state's laws related to women, minority and veteran-owned businesses.

"Right now, we consolidate so much bidding it is to the disadvantage of small businesses, a lot of women and minority veteran businesses, and businesses just out of the gate," said Gregg.

Voters will hear from Holcomb, Gregg and Libertarian Rex Bell during their third and final debate next week.
