INDIANAPOLIS - Gov. Mitch Daniels is heading to the East Coast this week for speeches in Washington and at Harvard and Yale universities.

The governor's office says Daniels will be in Washington on Wednesday to give the keynote address at a luncheon for the Excellence in Action National Summit on Education Reform 2012.

The Republican governor is then scheduled to travel to Cambridge, Mass., to speak Thursday about education changes at a luncheon of the Harvard Law School Federalist Society.

Daniels also will visit New Haven, Conn., on Friday to speak during the William F. Buckley Program at Yale's conference honoring the 60th anniversary of Whittaker Chambers' book, "Witness." Chambers was an American who spied for the Soviets during the 1930s but later became a severe critic of communism.
