Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Gregg endorsed his choice for state school superintendent.Gregg introduced Crooked Creek Elementary School Media Specialist Glenda Ritz to a group of supporters at the Statehouse on Thursday.Gregg said Ritz would give teachers a voice and that the days of demonizing teachers for Indianas school problems are over.Ritz criticized Republican incumbent Tony Bennett and said he has spent more money on standardized testing that doesnt teach children how to think."(Bennett) has imposed a flawed accountability system on our schools. Now, our communities are being deemed failures, because his grading system ensures that many successful Indiana schools will receive a grade of D or F, Ritz said.Democratic convention delegates are scheduled to meet in Fort Wayne on Saturday to formally choose their candidates for lieutenant governor, school superintendent and attorney general.
