INDIANAPOLIS -- With one of the United States House of Representatives' biggest votes of the year looming, how will central Indiana members vote on repealing the Affordable Care Act?

Based on previous statements made, we have a pretty good idea whether most of them are for or against the new health care bill. Take a look at recent statements, and read why they plan to vote they way they say.

Jackie Walorski (IN-2) FOR:

“With the American Health Care Act, we are delivering on our promise to the American people to repeal Obamacare and repair our nation’s health care system. These improvements will better help individuals and families access affordable health care and give states greater flexibility to implement innovative reforms like those in Indiana. President Trump met with House Republicans this morning and made clear he is with us 100 percent to deliver on our promise to the American people. I look forward to voting for this legislation and working with my colleagues in the Senate to get it to the president’s desk.”

Jim Banks (IN-3) FOR: -- now, anyway

"While this legislation is far from perfect and not the Obamacare replacement plan I had hoped to support, it is a substantial improvement from the mandates, burdens and failures of Obamacare. I committed to President Trump that I would support this plan if it contains the changes we agreed to today. Passing this bill will begin the process of rolling back Obamacare, enacting free market reforms and improving health care for all Americans."

Todd Rokita (IN-4) FOR:

“For over six years, the American people have rejected ObamaCare and called on Washington to pass truly patient-centered reforms that will make healthcare more accessible and more affordable.  The American Health Care Act is the first step in that process, and I am proud of the work done by the Budget Committee today to discuss and advance it.  Our proposal empowers patients and doctors by providing lower costs and more choices, and I look forward to continuing my efforts to repeal and replace ObamaCare as this bill moves forward.”

Susan Brooks (IN-5) FOR

“The markup will begin the process of repealing this failed policy and rebuilding a healthcare system that is more accessible and affordable for Hoosiers. This bill is a good first step to restore stability in our health care marketplace and to once again put people back in charge of their health care decisions.”

Luke Messer (IN-6) FOR:

“Health care costs sky rocketed, plans got worse and people have less coverage and less choice today than ever before. We promised Americans we would repeal this disastrous law and replace it with a system that actually lowers cost, expands choice and puts people back in charge of their care. President Trump signaled that he is all in to help us pass this plan for the American people. After years of promises, now is the time to get this done.”

Andre Carson (IN-7) AGAINST

Thx for saving the day @realDonaldTrump! You’re about to save 14 million people from the evils of quality, affordable health care #cboReport

Larry Bucshon (IN-8) FOR:

“President Trump made it clear this morning that the plan we have put forward fulfills the promise he made – and members of Congress made – to repeal and replace Obamacare. The American Health Care Act, which is on the House floor this week, is the first and necessary step in that process. I’m happy to have the full support of the President; and look forward to working with his administration, the Department of Health and Human Services, and my colleagues in Congress as we work through the three phases to bring families relief from the Obamacare disaster.”

Trey Hollingsworth (IN-9) UNCLEAR:

“Obamacare drastically failed to meet the promises that were made to the American people: premiums skyrocketed, choices plummeted, and many families were jettisoned from their plans. Hoosiers sent me to Washington, D.C. with the mandate to repeal this disastrous legislation. I am diligently studying the American Health Care Act as well as speaking with fellow Hoosiers about this proposed replacement. Any viable plan needs to ensure that coverage is actually affordable and embraces a free market system where providers compete for our business. I encourage any constituents who have an opinion about this bill to reach out to their Congressional office and share that view with me."
