INDIANAPOLIS - Gov. Mike Pence signed legislation aimed at curbing bullying in Indiana schools Saturday.
House Enrolled Act 1423 requires school districts to track and report bullying incidents in an annual performance report.
It also requires school employees, volunteers and students to be trained each year on bullying prevention, and schools would have to share information on bullying investigation procedures with students and parents.
Numerous mothers made their voices heard at the statehouse this session in support of the bill.
It also extends the definition of bullying to include digital and electronic messages that are detrimental to a student's mental or physical health.
