President Barack Obama thanks campaign staff, volunteers in emotional video

President expected to set tone in speech Friday

CHICAGO - President Barack Obama thanked volunteers and campaign staff in an emotional new video.

The five-minute clip released by the campaign shows Obama talking to a group gathered at his Chicago headquarters Wednesday.

He tells the workers he's proud of the work they did throughout the campaign, choking up and pausing to wipe away tears.

Obama will address the nation at 1 p.m. Friday for the first time since his acceptance speech, setting the tone for his second term.

He's expected to talk about approaching "fiscal cliff" and the need to work out a deal with Congress to avoid automatic tax hikes and spending cuts.

Republicans warn that a bitter fight could threaten Obama's second-term agenda.
