Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is planning a fundraising trip to Evansville in August.

The former Massachusetts governor is scheduled to attend a private event on Aug. 4 at the home of former Black Beauty Coal Co. chairman Steve Chancellor.

Tickets to the fundraiser cost at least $2,500 per person. The invitation to the Aug. 4 event states that former Vice President Dan Quayle and actress Bo Derek will again be on hand, along with celebrity Ricky Schroder, and several Republican members of Congress and congressional candidates from Indiana and Kentucky.

Vanderburgh County GOP chairman Wayne Parke said local Republicans were not aware of plans for Romney to campaign in Evansville apart from the fundraising reception.

“That doesn’t mean he’s not going to,” Parke said.

Romney's last Indiana trip was to a May 7 private fundraiser in Indianapolis. His last public event in the state was a September speech in Indianapolis.
