RTV6 is opening a broadcast studio on Monument Circle that will give the TV station the only permanent street-level presence in downtown Indianapolis.RTV6 Vice President and General Manager Larry Blackerby and Emmis Communications Vice President and Market Manager Charlie Morgan announced the studio on Wednesday. The studio will be in the Emmis Communications building, a shared space with WIBC, who RTV6 launched a news-gathering partnership with in November."We are very pleased to take our partnership with WIBC to the next level," Blackerby said in a news release. "The addition of the TV studio downtown offers us a unique opportunity to broaden our news capabilities. It is part of our expanding news coverage plans and gives our viewers and listeners an exciting view of the iconic center of our city.""WIBC and WRTV are two of the most storied news brands in Indianapolis," Morgan said. "Combining our rich heritage and deep resources in a way that provides listeners and viewers with the best and most timely coverage, a deeper understanding and context; and delivering it wherever and whenever they want it is our mutual goal. We are proud to be partners and believe, together, our coverage is unmatched."RTV6 debuted the glass-enclosed studio during a broadcast from the 500 Festival Rev Your Engines Concert on April 28.
