Kenney Wins Top Honor In Indiana Society Of Professional Journalists awards

RTV6's Kara Kenney was named the Indiana Journalist of the Year by the Indiana Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

Kenney was honored during the group's Best in Indiana Journalism awards banquet Friday for work including coverage of a retirement package for a Wayne Township School superintendent that resulted in millions of dollars in compensation.

Other winners included The Indianapolis Star's John Russell for his coverage of inappropriate dealings between state utility regulators and Duke Energy executives.

Chad Carrothers of Bloomington radio station WFHB received the Service to Journalism Award.

Winners of Student Journalist of the Year awards were Danielle Paquette of Indiana University and Alberto Pimienta of Ball State University.
