After Daniels was elected Purdue's next president in June, questions were raised about whether a one-year "cooling off period" required by the State Ethics Code would apply to him when he becomes Purdue's president in January.

The Journal & Courier reported opinions released Friday by the state inspector general and the head of the state's executive branch lobbying division found that no restrictions will apply to Daniels when he assumes Purdue's presidency.

Despite the two non-binding opinions in his favor, Daniels has requested further clarification on all rules that apply to his exit from state government.
